Family Fun in December with Holiday Events in Lackawanna County
Halloween has passed, and now Thanksgiving too. Having finally entered December, Christmas time is here! It’s time to decorate the tree, start drinking hot cocoa and eggnog, and get your Christmas shopping done. For those in Scranton, Pennsylvania, and around Lackawanna County, we here at Kelly Mazda have found some great ways to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season near you!

Presented by the Clocktower Theater Company, a must-see holiday tradition finds its way to Scranton, Pennsylvania. Come see the classic tale of Ebenezer Scrooge in his magical tale of change and redemption through the spirits of Christmas.
Take a short ride up to South Abington Township for a musical celebration of Christmas! Presented by the Department of Music, enjoy a festival of music by choir, soloists, bands, and an orchestra. At times, the audience will be welcome to sing-a-long to Christmas carol classics.
Back again for another year, the Festival of Trees celebrates the Roaring 1920’s for the 2017 holiday season. Come celebrate a time period nearly a century in the past with a quick drive to Steamtown.
At Nay Aug Park, beginning at the end of November and running all through December and up to January 2nd, the Holiday Light Spectacular is back! Take a relaxing drive through this annual holiday display that’s a free treat and a warm tradition.
At Marywood University, come enjoy this celebration of the historic Nutcracker performance. Tickets are free, but seats are limited, so make sure to arrive ahead of time to secure your spot!
From the Greenhouse Project, find the perfect Christmas decorations! All fresh and locally grown, poinsettias come in red, white, or pink, and wreaths will be available in a variety of sizes and decorations.
Take a fun trolley ride with Santa. On a trip presented by the Electric City Trolley Museum, this hour-long ride will go to Montage Mountain through tunnels, near Step Falls, and by traveling on the Laurel Line track.
Come watch the festivities or volunteer to participate in Scranton’s annual Santa Parade! Marching bands, floats, and balloons will all be present at this festive Christmas parade for the holidays!
